Good morning everyone, today was a particularly exciting awakening. when i woke up this morning, when i looked out my window there was a heavy coating of snow on the ground and the road was covered as well. im hoping this is the early start to a snow covered winter, i want to get some use out of my snowboarding equipment that barely saw snow last year.

on to the adventure of this past saturday. as many of you know, a few of my friends and myself decided to take a little road trip through central and northern New York this past weekend. well it was a huge success being that no one was left behind, arrested, or killed in the process. granted the weather was terrible, but all in all it was a great time. we begun the trip  heading up redock mountain towards lopez, Pa which i have learned is the coldest place in PA due to some sort of geological pheonomena, and they also have several ww2 style bombs sunk into the soil that have the letters L.O.P.E.Z painted on them.  then in the next town over we saw a large rocket at the local VFW post. after almost dying several times we made it to our first destination of Watkins Glen, NY, and much to our dismay parts of the gorge trail in the state park were closed off due to the weather, but we got to see some pretty cool stuff there nonetheless. after getting drenched and adding some “water” to the pond there, we moved on to the finger lakes wine region along the eastern shore of Seneca lake. our first take of New Yorks Finest wine came from probably the most notable vineyard in the Seneca region which is the Hazlitt winery. they are renown for there famous RedCat semi-sweet redwine also know as HHJ or Hazlitt Horney Juice. they had several wines there that were quite fantastic namely the afformentioned RedCat as well as Brambleberry which had a rasberry flavor and paired very well with chocolated to bring out a chocolate rasberry flavor. once we finished up at Hazlitt we made our way to the lake to Wagner Farms where we sampled several wines which didnt impress me much, Wagner Farms made up for there lacking wine in there Brewery where we sample several varieties of beer ranging from IPA’s to Dark stouts. me being the fan of beer so dark you can paint with it, i fell in love with the oatmeal stout. once we finished at wagner farms we stumbled out the door to the car where we began to break away from lake seneca and made our way to the town of Seneca Falls, where much to our disapointment there are no falls, of at least we couldnt find them. next we started our trek northward towards Oswego and lake Ontario. along the way we made one last winery stop, mostly because the sign said “free wine tasting” but unfortunatly there wine wasnt that special. finally at roughly 2:30 pm we arrived in Oswego, New York appoxamatly 7 hours and 220 miles later. once we arrived we drove arround this small town on the southern shore of lake ontario. we decided to stop at a somewhat fancy restaurant called king arthurs steakhouse where we ate lunch. once we left there, we took a rainy walk down to the the shore line and on the way back i mailed out this:

yea thats right, I mailed myself a postcard, and i will probably do it again.

after about 2 hours we decided to make the long trip down to 81 so we could head back home. once we arrived in the binghamton area we stopped to see our friend Mallory in Johnson City, we were there for a while watching tv and telling stories of the day and of our co-workers. finally we made the last leg of the trip home, we arrived back in wyoming, PA around 11:30 pm, and our journey sadly came to an end. don’t worry though, because the next one is already in the works,c’mon you know I can’t sit still that long…

for those interested, here is the route we took:

So people never cease to amaze me. tonite as i was getting ready to leave work,  this woman comes up to the LP desk and slams an open hard drive box down as she is leaving and says ‘here give this to that fucking bitch” or something to that order, then i hear the one chick i work with yelling to stop her. apparently she was trying to return said hard drive that wasnt actually the product that it was suposed to be and when we declined to return it she took it upon her self to grab one off the shelf, and waltz out of the store with it, effectively stealing the product. all i can say is LOLZ!!!!  other than that the day was pretty uneventful except for the Peppermint Mocha that someone Brought me, i was pretty stoked about that. oh by the way, one more day then road trip time, and tomorrow night im going to Harrisburg. WOOT!

Well there are only two more days in this week, and that to me is exciting. the reason this excites me more than usual is because for starters friday night i’ll be headed back down to Gullifty’s underground in Harrisburg to see a band called Rhea Silvia(check them out on myspace if you like rock at all!) then saturday morning, John, Fina, Matty G, and myself embark on our day long tour of upstate New York and Finger lakes wine country. it shall be quite an adventure, and don’t you worry, there will be plenty of pictures and im hoping to shoot a lot of video and put together a documentary style video of the journey. i will be updating via twitter quite a bit during the day as well. the loosely based itinerary is as follows: first stop will be watkins glen for a breif look around, followed by a few winery stops along the east shore of lake seneca, then the end of our “planned” path takes us to the south shore of lake Ontario in Oswego, NY. beyond those locations, the road could lead anywhere. all i know is it going to be a lot of fun, and is something i really really need to do.

Well its been over 2 months since i’ve last posted, oh how the time flies. life has brought me many adventures in the past few months, some of which i’ll mention, and some of which i won’t go into, but most recently, my friend Ryan has become a married man, so lets have a big round of applause for him and the lucky lady. Ryan and Theresa have been together for quite a while now, and I am very happy for them, the wedding was a blast, and of course I thoroughly enjoyed dressing up in a tuxedo.(check my facebook for proof of how stunning i looked :P)

what else has happend in my life… ohhh Ive began, and recently completed my first video production in quite somtime. it is a promo spot for www.mynepa.info. as soon as i have it converted to a web format it will be up for the world to see, which should be within the next half hour or so. I hope to do a lot more video’s for mynepa, and if anyone, and i mean ANYONE needs a video produced please let me know, i am HD capable and my rates are very reasonable, and by reasonable i mean name your price, and ill probably take it.

I’ve decided recently that for my birthday I am going to get myself a tattoo or two. the first one is going to be a band around my left arm that says “the core of mans’ spirit comes from new experiences.” which is a quote of Christopher McCandless’s, he is the 24 year old guy who set off to live in the Alaskan wilderness in 1992 and never made it out, you may have heard of the movie based on his adventure called “Into the WIld” check it out, its fantastical! the second tattoo that i was is a celestial design that i created that i want to put on the back of my left shoulder. once i get a scan ill throw it up on here for the world to see.

Also i am looking forward to this weekend, which is sure to be full of adventure. it all kicks off friday night when Phil and I, and possibly some other peeps head back down to Gullifty’s underground in Harrisburg for a night of rocking featuring the musical stylings of Rhea Silvia among others, then on saturday the fun continues when John, Matt, Fina and myself take a road trip to Watkins Glen, Ny, followed by a scenic drive along lake seneca with a stop at a local winery and seneca fall, then to Oswego, Ny for god knows what, then finally a stop off in Binghamton to see a friend before heading back to good old Nepa. be sure to catch all the updates of that crazyness via twitter and facebook.

Well that pretty much covers whats new with me, I know i say this a lot and never stick to it, but expect more words from me on a more frequent basis, as much as i slack on posting, it is such a stress reliever to write. so check back again

with shows like Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Fringe Rocking the airwaves, its hard not to think this may be the season that TV reemerges as a quality entertainment Medium, and i don’t mean TV in the sense that you have to be there at the exact time and catch the show on network tv as it happens(although that is ideal in my opinion) but TV as in entertainment Broadcasted through network television, but consumable on so many other levels. I think with media outlets such as the iTunes store and Hulu, Broadcast entertainment has a chance at becoming as epic as box office hits. now i don’t me epic as in scale, because you can’t match the experience of a huge movie screen, but epic as in production value and all around quality of content. im already seeing this with the shows I previously mentioned, and the nice thing is if these are done properly, you can experience that epicness weekly, instead of every few years if they decide to make a sequel to the movie you may have enjoyed. TSCC is just plain fun for me, full of action, and I enjoy the story throughly. and the pilot for fringe nearly blew me off the seat, i was tensed up for nearly 90% of the almost feature length pilot. what I’m ultimatly trying to say, is I am really starting to be impressed by the shows on TV, and i think it all began with Lost, it seems as if the popularity of that show has sparked a slew of high quality action shows for the small screen. ok i have finished my rambling, and i would like to try and voice my opinion on these two shows weekly, so stay tuned for that, also if you haven’t checked them out, then by all means hop on iTunes or Hulu and check out Fringe and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Every once in a while I stumble across a software gem, something that is either extremly usefull, of just plain fun. Well this week that software gem is Aurora Feint for the iPhone. Aurora Feint is a puzzle/role playing game that for me is mix of the puzzle aspect of bejeweled and the role playing elements and overall look of Final Fantasy Tactics. In this game you start by choosing and naming your character then you play a tutorial level. The game play mechanics are quite simple, you use your iPhone’s touch interface to manipulate the different runes on screen that represent different elements such as fire, ice, and so forth. The object is to line up the runes either horizontally or vertically with there corrosponding runes. And of course if by doing so other runes are lined up and destroyed you get extra points for combos. I haven’t really delved deeply yet into the role playing aspect of the game other than a bit of leveling up, but it looks enticing. Other things that I have observed are the presense of an in game store where you can use your points earned in game towards power ups. Also the leveling system is a bit like a traditional point and click RPG in that with every level you gain, you get to choose what to put that experience into.
From what I have experienced so far Aurora Feint is a pretty solid game with beautiful visuals and a nice interface, and you can’t beat the asking price either… FREE.
I suggest you get on the itunes app store and try it for yourself.

I am happy to report that I have finally figured out why my wordpress install would not allow the iphone wordpress app to connect to my blog. Apparently the wordpress install built into my hosting company was a stripped down version, I opted to do a full install and much to my surprise, it was sucessful. So expect more frequent tech news, entertainment reviews, and stories of adventure from the road.
